Sacile, Conegliano, and the prosecco region

Sacile is an important town for us pianists because it is the home of Italian piano maker Fazioli.  Attempting to understand the piano I love so much, I planned to visit the region that breeds such philosophic and artistic charm.

Sacile is nestled in the prosecco region - yet another reason to visit.  Some of the towns are so historical and beautiful that warrant another blog post by themselves, but here is an overview of Sacile and Conegliano.

The scenic drive is beyond words: mountains in the backdrop, vineyards sprawling about on both sides of the roads, small villages littered along the hills, little tasting "factories" hiding from the main roads.  Seriously, if you don't pay attention, you will miss these prosecco producers.  Unlike France, they do not exhibit themselves with a big sign.

If you still aren't drunk from all the prosecco you have tasted, retire to Conegliano for some regional fare to round up the day.  I stayed at Best Western, which puts you right in the middle of the historical fairytale street of Via XX Settembre (a street that commemorates the Capture of Rome during Italian Unification).  You will find a number of romantic restaurants and cafés on this street.
